The Mercer Family has been farming in the Horse Heaven Hills for four generations and growing vinifera since the early 1970's. Their family's roots are in livestock and row crops but over the last two decades Bud Mercer and his son, Rob, have become enthused by wine and have developed the skill for growing ultra-premium wine grapes. The Mercer Family is known throughout eastern Washington for their work ethic, their patriotism and their never-ending contributions to the community.
After handing the reigns of the diversified family farm that he spent his life building to his son, Rob, Bud Mercer has embraced wine, wine grape growing and wine tourism. Bud's leadership in the vineyard and at the winery helps reinforce Mercer Estates' commitment to quality. Making himself available to the trade and consumers is an ongoing goal for Bud and he looks forward to visiting the marketplace often as the brand grows.

As president of Mercer Canyons, Inc., Rob Mercer's responsibilities and efforts are naturally synergistic with the mission of Mercer Estates. Rob's MBA training and his leadership experience as Captain in the USMC help guide both organizations.
Increasingly his focus is on the current and future vineyard sites that are being identified and developed throughout his family's land holdings. Rob attributes his zeal for grape and wine production to "seeing the wineries that we have sold grapes and land to over the years make some of the best wines in the world with our grapes... with Horse Heaven Hills appellation Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah."
